Ognon

The onion is the bulb from a vegetable plant that bears the same name and is of the family of alliaceae (like garlic). The white onion is used as a vegetable and condiment but less frequently than the yellow onion because it is only found in spring and summer. Its smell is quite strong but its flavor is less pungent, sweeter than that of yellow onion and red onion. It is picked before its full maturity.
